The sharp is a wide angle display type yes.
The sharp display uses a better sub pixel arrangement.
The 17 inch does not get an extra mxm slot, so no.

    So no TB3?
I would have really loved to see a 6xx with TB3. Hope they announce one.

TB3 should work with USB 3.1...

Thunderbolt 3 would be the ultimate future proof both in raw data transfer speed and allowing for external gpu set ups. People who want to be future proofed will want it. Usb 3.1 is a gimmick and will not offer true external gpu capability. In terms of speed and actual usage usb 3.1 falls short of tb3 in every way except cost and availability.

To put it frankly no TB3 on Batman 2.0 no buy !!!!

Still not a huge amount of bandwidth, you only have enough for a single card and you may run into issues with that moving forward.

Well there is two sides to a coin and you pointed out the more negative things which we all do appreciate since nothing related to this is guaranteed, however with success of other egpu set ups and the faster bus the tb3 will still equate to having a machine that can move forward regardless of if pascal will be mxm compatible. I will say that if the forthcoming new skylake notebooks including the desktop cpu and mobile cpu's don't have tb3 options I will be forced to move on to something that will fit my future proofing needs.

Taking th cost of the external dock and gpu, the drop in portability, it may be better to get a new machine of course ;)

I don't see why mxm would not be used for pascal myself, it makes it easier to fit, not harder.
