Power limit throttling is expected, its a locked 45Watts CPU, its just saying that it was using more than 45Watts after the PL2 timer run out(aka the turbo boost timer). You can bump that all the way to 96 seconds, you have it set at 28 secs, or just use TS, download the extra dll, enable PowerCut option and it will run at 3.5Ghz all core all day(at least my MSI does, but I already had it running all core full turbo due to a tweaked IA curve slope in BIOS, so it reports less power and it never really throttles).

    EDIT:
What paste did you use, and how is the contact between die and heatsink? Still feels a bit hot.

Thanks for all the info! Is it still hot? It's a lot cooler now. I think I used the right amount of Noctua NT-H1

So my fans came today, time to (hopefully) fix this GPU!

    Here's what we're working with:

Some weird greasy residue on this bits, I have no clue. Cleaned them though:

This has seen better days, left it alone:

This... might explain why the GPU was hot. Clearly not enough paste (I SWEAR I used the right amount):

OH GOD no wonder I thought the fans weren't working

    Clean it

    Paste it

    Finished! Nice new copper bits

Sigh I'll never understand why overclocking with XTU actually gives me a worse score in 3D Mark Sky Diver

    Active cores: x38 x37 x36 x36
    Turbo Boost Max Power 57W
    Processor Current Limit 100A
Turbo Boost Power WIndow 40 seconds

    3D mark score = 300 points worse

EDIT: undervolt by 005v puts the score up to stock, lol

Update: remember how the first time I flashed Prema's vBios, it idled at 55c and crashed whenever I played Red Dead? Well now it idles at 37c and handled Red Dead just fine! Still baffled by OC'ing the CPU, just gonna leave it at stock

The residue is left by the thermal pads usually, it's just part of their composition.

    Hello All !

    Hope your going well,

    I've got the P651SG with 980M and I7 4720 HQ

Well temp went crazy, I did repast CPU and GPU (paste was overdone)

Then I looked to optimise fans and installed hotkey but It don't working, it's in the taskbar but can only see it with miniature do you have an idea ?

@Prema I just seen your incredible work while reading the thread, do you think I am worthy to install your custom bios ? Well I am not expert at all but I think I understood It could help me to keep my laptop for a little while by allowing me to run game better.

Thank you so much all in advance for your help

I don't understand what you mean by carpet ?

As above, I oppened, cleaned dust, removed old and apply new paste.

The main issue is the fact that I can't control my fans. I feel like the CPU fan stay too low even when I reach 92° I don't understand why : (
