The 980M is pretty similar in terms of power to the 1060, a little tweaking would get you there. You would be better off value wise waiting for the generation after this one.

Chill bro the 980M is still pretty potent. The 1060/1070 are going to be replaced soon so just enjoy your 980 for a while longer.

Usually buying a high end chip lets you skip a true generation.

Hi. Can someone link me a cable replacement for the motherboard-monitor cable. I'm having this flickering issues as seen on this video: https://streamable.com/8c9z6 . Only way to fix it is by putting the lid down and up again and again until it's okay. Someone pointed out that it could be a damaged cable so

    Hey antonigaming,
I had a similar problem on mine. I found if I put pressure top left above keyboard it would stop flickering. So I subsequently opened up the back and unplugged and replugged the monitor cable on motherboard and it seems to be behaving since.

I see. I'll open it once my new screwdrivers are delivered. One thing weird is, whenever the flickering is frequently happening, when I open a new tab of Chrome and typed, it always turns off my display. Then I'll put the lid down and up again, repeat the process, and would turn the screen black again. Restarting my laptop does the trick, but the boot up flickering still persists. Idk, I kind of lost hope for this problem. I'll try to reconnect the cables tho

Just wondering, would MSHYBRID mode provide better performance for games as the background UI tasks would be running on the iGPU while the game would be the only thing running on the dGPU (as opposed to everything running on the dGPU when in discrete mode)? Or is it negligible?
