Ah, I did not know about another revition that fixed that, my R4 has the issue where you will have no sound detected until you put it to sleep or restart multiple times and then your sound card will be detected again.

Do you have some information or know of other posts regarding another revition on the R4 board?

No, I have this soundboard issue as well and if I cannot figure a way to fix this I will just sell my Alienware and go full desktop build, a M17x R4 motherboard are super expensive.
I believe you need to look for as high of a revision number as possible, mine is first gen revision 00.
You need to take apart the entire laptop to see it LOL

I always try and take photos of every system I disassemble for clean out if I ever need reference of something, just like I do now. :)

Mine is a first revision also. :)

I have checked all the readable M17x R4 motherboard pictures online and found this, all boards say, "Rev: 1.0(A00)" printed in white with the exact same date, but the only difference I have found is the sticker on the RAM slot, some say A00 & some say A01. If you could confirm your RAM sticker Rev number we can determine if this is what to look for.

I just got home and checked, Rev. F2 it says on my RAM Sticker, not sure however if these have anything to do with the motherboard though.
However I know that people who had the same audio issues I have right now back when the M17x R4 was new simply sent it to Dell and had something replaced because theirs worked afterwards and Dell fixed the issue, so its either a motherboard revision out there or they replaced the soundcard chipset which sounds really unlikely to me.

Recon only R3 had IDT I think.
Audio works fine until I install the AMD HDMI drivers then it ceases to work, HDMI drivers refuses to work as well.
My only opportunity here is uninstall HDMI drivers and disable them, use VGA with audio 3.5mm plug to HDMI, LOL
