You'll have to stay using your discrete GPU then.

that'sa blessing. the iGPU and discrete gpu switching software causes headaches anyways. who's using one of these on their lap anyways? an old core 2 duo or i3/i5 laptops can be had and a cheap SSD slapped in it for that. i run an area 51 330 watt PSU and table it ALWAYS.

it's physically disabled as the 120hz screen uses the eDP connector which is not wired up to the Intel iGPU at all.

Haven't visited this site in quite some time. Has the situation improved with Windows 10 (M17x R4 with a lowly 680M here) at all? I haven't used my machine in an age and it really disappoints me it just sitting there. I'd pick it up again if I could get it updated. Thanks

    Hi, welcome back.

Win 10 works fine on my R4/680m. I got it free as I purchased in the window for a free upgrade. I even let it upgrade with the intention of clean installing later, not needed as far as I can tell.
I did have a couple of issues.
    1. It put boot data on the second drive. Not an issue until that drive fails or is replaced. I had to transfer the primary boot to the SSD and it took a couple of windows repair runs to sort it out, Best advice remove any secondary drives for the install.
    2. Driver updates causing a black screen after win startup. System restore to recover. Cause was win fast-boot (bios option) causing a conflict with saved settings. Turned this off and disabled hibernation completely.
My 680m is maxed out on voltage and clock (+220mhz!) and is solid and runs the latest titles with little compromise.
    Good luck.

Yes, I also let Window 10 auto-install. In my case, there were no problems at all beyond feeling like it was VERY slow at first, but that went away quickly as Windows finished updating everything.

Appreciate the replies :) Not gonna lie, I'm still nervous about doing it, as I think the last time I read up on it, it was killing screens?

Shame I chickened out and missed the free upgrade though :(

That was addressed quickly and did not effect 120hz panel models.

I've run just about every version of windows since 2.0 (was a freebie back in the day) and v10 seems to have got it all together, finally!

Go on, you know you want to, haha...
