    Optimus.

On those 4k/120Hz Razer machines you need a MUX switch and it must be in discrete mode for the 4k/120Hz to work.

I purchased the 4K 3080 model and I’m happy with my purchase. The image is stunning and more appealing to me than 1080p. I cannot game in 1080p anymore, my desktop monitors are 1440p and 4K. Assassins Creed Valhalla 50-55 fps at max settings, Cold War 85-90 FPS with slightly toned down settings and DLSS on performance. Overall, it’s a quality and premium machine.

    Same.
I had a GE76 but the quality is MSI usual BS.
I had two and and they both started crashing randomly.

So, I returned and ordered the M17 R4 w/10980HK/4k/4TB/1yr accidental dmg.

Way too much money for a laptop but I wanted to give Alienware a chance to impress.

That said, I think I found the 4k panel Alienware is using:

and I may attempt an upgrade to:

The 4K screen is 60hz and absolutely not meant for gaming at all. The response time is ridiculously high. You also won't be able to swap the panel out as the iGPU will not support the screen. I have been going back and forth between so many laptops but if this does have a hardware mux AND you set it, this technically would work. I would expect that if it did though Dell would offer it as an option for even more money.

My second one came. QC is an issue. Small scratch on front panel. GPU is awesome though. CPU does not undervolt as well on this one about 40mv less. One user got 14k timespy right? See attached for my best score so far. 13.7k GPU

I got my M15 R4 yesterday with the 3080, 4k OLED, and i7-10870H. One thing to note is that the GPU definitely appears to be a 125W TDP as opposed to the widely reported 115W. The driver lists the MGP at 140W and I've seen 140W readings in the GPU Power sensor and 138W in the GPU 8-pin #1 input power sensor with HWInfo. That would seem to line up well with this spec:
    https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/dell-rtx-3080-mobile.b8590

The CPU definitely runs hot while gaming (mid 90s with no TCC or undervolt). A 80mv undervolt seemed to work fine but 90mv resulted in a hang. Trying 85mv now but the 80mv undervolt didn't seem to do much for CPU temps with the games I tried unfortunately.

    The display sure is pretty.

Had some time to play around with the M15 R4, specs in my sig. My stock Time Spy was 11365/8305 = 10769. This is my most recent run:

    TCC: 15
    CPU: -80mv
    GPU: +100 core, +75 memory

About 15% less than some of the posted M17 numbers I've been seeing, which lines up with a 125w versus a 150w RTX 3080.

I know the TCC has gotten some ridicule around here, but I will say that this machine performs better with it on even with an undervolt. My guess is that the TCC has a better throttling curve than just letting things rip. My scores only went down with TCC at 0.

Congrats on the purchase. The CPUs are in major need of updating. I have the 10980hk in my m17 r4 and it is pulling way too much power. I have seen all the way up to 160 watts in an r23 run. That was with an undervolt too. We need the new 11th gen intel chip (probably too much power too) or really the 5000 ryzen would be better. I am loving the machine except for the screen. I would prefer a 1440p 240hz like on the blade or would LOVE a 120hz OLED like my LG TV.
