Fans are quiet with and without LM repaste. So it makes no difference if you are using Silent-Mode. Hm... A little bit maybe. In BF5 the fans kicked in a little bit later...

Very nice pics!!! Thanks for sharing.

Did you by any chance get a measurement on thermal pad thickness?

From several posts throughout the thread, I’ve gotten the idea that the drivers straight from Nvidia don’t work. I don’t have my 51m yet, so I cannot confirm. This would mean that we need to get our drivers straight from Dell's Drivers and Downloads page for our devices. Dell takes Nvidia drivers and certifies them for their devices, does that make sense?

Has anyone with the 51m had luck updating drivers straight from Nvidia?

Yeah, except the complete lack of portability (can't even go to another room in the house) spoils it for me.

With a "1950s" 1080p screen? No 4K, no IPS, no OLED? Seriously?

You can elevate process priority to above normal and it makes a good difference on CB R15, and probably other tests too.

Did you notice if there are chokes/resistors being cooled with thermal pads over them, as in the AW17R5?

    That is excellent news.

    Hey guys,

First of sorry if this has been mentioned prior. I have searched and can’t seem to find a post about it.

My question is: Is the Alienware 51M compatible with Intels 10th generation? I guess no one really truely knows but I think it’s bad if Dell are saying the CPU can be upgraded if it’s on a older chipset this is not correct? This is my first major device in years and would rather hold out for Intels 10 core CPU for workloads if it’s not going to be compatible with the current 51M chipset.
