How do you OC a laptop panel? Is there anything that cannot be OC'd, this is a whole new world to me.

In saying that I have a Chi Mei panel so probably can't. I love this screen but I am comparing it to a 7-year-old Asus G750 I had, so it is likely to be better.

Some panels allow a decent hz overclock. Clevo used some 60hz panels that easily OC’d to 90 or so. Most of the newer fast panels already running 120/144 can’t do much in terms of OC’ing.

Its all subjective, but my desktop I run the AW3418DW and of course have the Chi Mei panel (model CMN175F) and I have to say they are quite comparable considering their relative costs. The color saturation on the Chi Mei panel is good, but not quite what the AW3418DW is, but the contrast is actually a bit _better_ though greens on the Chi Mei simply have less depth but this is a quibble. Both are color calibrated btw using Spyder5 Pro.

A word of caution is that overclocking you monitor could potentially kill it overtime. I have a dell ultrawide(((I forget the product number off the top of my head))) and it is a 3440x1440 60hz panel. I overclocked to 80 hz. Any higher just didn’t work. But a free boost was a free boost so I left it and went about my marry way. I’m going to say 6-7 months down the road the monitor would not turn on. Since it was within the warranty period I was able to get a new one from dell with little hassle. And I may not be 100% sure my overclock killed it I’ve never had a monitor die on me like that before. So I strongly think I killed it by overclocking it.
Funny part is the replacement is still alive and well for over four years and I never overclocked it.

Overclocking any hardware will generally shorten the life span of it (cpu, gpu, ram etc). Problem is who really keeps their hardware long enough these days for it to be a factor.

We went too long....although I have to admit I never expected the next "CLEVO is better" to be about overclockability of panels..

Oh...FYI. those evil Dell engineers sunk into my house last night and ripped the labels off my canned gods. Chunky soup? Beans? NOW I CANT TELL!!!
