how does one know if he has hit the scilicon lottery? with the 9900k to 9900ks?

Was thinking 1.5.0/190w LM on gpu to chicken **** to put it on the cpu socket lol, but seeing BoB's post Lm makes no difference... the humming and hawing continues.

delid direct die the 9900k? anyone get that accomplished?

I suspect if its minor throttling with Gsync you don't really notice it, but I was under the impression that _massive_ throttling almost down the bottom of the clocks occurred... anyone have an experience to confirm what happens currently here?

PS: Added a 1TB 970 EVO Plus this morning no issue whatsoever, still need to get a heat sink but thrilled with how easy it is to get into the unit. Found the little LEGO tool works _perfectly_ for helping unsnap the back cover without scratching the unit.... runs at same temps as the boot Skynix drive - 75C or so on Balanced mode. Going to Performance mode, low 70's to mid-60'sin case anyone wants to know that is also planning on adding.

Sorry ,see my edit, I screwed up what I meant to type. I should have said I always left the 180w VBIOS on mine.

As for games, Overwatch ,ARK, Jedi Fallen Order, WoW, a bunch of other not intensive stuff that won't push it anyways.

Maybe your graphics run cooler than those who experience the the crippling.
Just see how well it overclock. Max it out within thermal headroom.

I mean read that the heatsink will crash with the power delivery.

Yeah big Overwatch player, and Kerbal Space Program as well. I noticed that at full settings Read Dead Redemption 2 which I installed as a sort of test overwhelms the 2070. Was disappointed to learn the AW GA does _not_ work with the internal screen, only an external monitor... like wtf....

I am on 180watt vbios and 1.5.0 and never have gpu throttle, i play rdr2 alot but my gpu never goes above 75degrees for now. I have the 2080 but first model so i still have g-sync also.

i did update the bios once and got major throttling on hellblade so i downgraded instantly

Huh you guys having GPU temp issues??

It can definitely keep the GPU cool. Issue is more CPU for me at least. Even on 1.5.0 & 200w vBIOS my 2080 performs fine. Never hit 90C always below in the low to mid 80s at worse.

Mine rebooted 6 times so yeah...LOL

I'm on 1.5.0 and 200w vBIOS. I have a first batch Area-51m so I get to use G-Sync. For me this is the perfect set-up not counting able to use 2666Mhz+ RAM but mine is 2133Mhz so I guess I also don't have to worry about that for now.

My GPU runs full power all the time, even if it hits 87C it doesn't seem to clock down more so the power limit still hits it harder (200w).

CPU on the other hand works fine at stock (4.7Ghz all core) but overclocking to 4.9Ghz+ and it needs some help.

I'm hoping that new vapor chamber cooler on the R2 fixes the CPU although now we will see 10 cores on the R2 lol.

What I will say is, my GPU does get hot (up to 87C worse case) so for me, BIOS 1.7.3/1.8.1 is a no-go. I get the dreaded super low clock mode when it hits 79C+
