Ok sorry, I understand now. I have set this limit and need to test if I can pass it but for the moment I can even go 78º. But we need to still fight this, I'm to post about this to alienware support, Dell Support ticket and Dell forums again.

What vBios do you recomend to use with last BIOS? Thanks!

I applied a thin layer of the same thermal paste as well with similar results. I actually applied it with a razor blade which is the commonly accepted way of applying thermal paste as far as I know. I found that a thicker layer is necessary to afford good thermal transference. I would say about an eighth of an inch. Sorry metic folks. This must be because of the lack of correct tolerances of the heat sync

These changes will prevent the aggressive throttling down, but it won't allow your GPU to boost higher. Don't understand much why your GPU can't do +160 or +170MHz.

Is your CPU a 9700K? Have you disabled CPU OC on AWCC? Is in your BIOS "CPU Perfoamence" option disabled? Has been Throttlestop turned on? Is Intel XTU running in the background?

I'm going to contact Alienware support too, still not ideal. Also found out that the Balanced fan profile now boost the CPU fan to 81% and the GPU fan to 84% (basically the performance fan profile is useless now).

I'd say the 180W is still the one to run since running the 200W will make the laptop heatsoak sooner.

1/8 inch thick layer of thermal paste would be a pretty great way to insulate the heat, not transfer it..
    Thats 3mm of thermal paste...

If your laptop needs that, send it back because that heatsink is behond bent..

Oof - so basically, no "upgrade" of CPU then for R1 owners down the line. Outside of more potential RAM, more disk space options and HD-gsync screens, what point is there then to an Area 51m? Given the issues with just supporting a 2080, what do you think is the upgrade-ability potential then for an R1 Area 51M in terms of say GPU at least? That puts me on the fence now about holding onto the unit I have....

Couple of minutes. Your BIOS update has crashed, but I don't know what to recommend you to do.
