Asus only supply 4k monitor in mothership, MSI only have 4K monitor in GT75/76

For the less powerful laptop with gpu like 2080mq in aero 15 oled, I won’t consider it as 4k gaming laptop as the gpu is too weak.

I guess most ppl want full hd at 144/240 and leave the 4k market as niche.

I used to play either 4k 144hz or 5k 60hz with my desktop pc, that’s why I can no longer play in full hd.

Me too, owned the area 51m for 4 months and just bought GT75 for a week and I decided to keep the latter.

Better screen, faster ram, better keyboard, more storage slots (now having 3.5TB SSD and 1TB HDD).

Having you mod your GT75 with liquid metal? Your temperature seems much better than mine.

If Dell offer a 4K area 51m, would you try it?

I used liquid metal, copper pad shims and replaced all thermal pads plus I did the bottom holes modification the same hidevolution do. No even 4K Area 51m not interesting for me.

Area 51m is lighter, thinner and have better design, but charging such a premium without xmp for ram, 4k monitor just not acceptable.

It has been 6 months from launch, right? Where is xmp for ram?

You can't add XMP support if the MB ain't sufficient or designed for it (Dell themself said the MB is designed around 2400MHz ram speed and not Intel's specs). If it was we would see it would uttilize faster ram from the launch. In same way as AMD won't support PCIe 4 on pre-X570 although it may works (lack of clarity on which motherboards could reliably run PCIe 4.0 would cause confusion in the market). The signal quality on the MB traces/paths is most likely not good enough for faster memory.

Even with ram OC unlocked, wouldn't they get a fair chance to go beyond spec 2400mhz? Clevo machines support up to 3000mhz spec afaik, but you still see mad scientists like @Johnksss and pushing 3700mhz ram.

I hope it works out. Having an uncapped ram speed would be interesting, but it would also be somewhat "luck of a draw" for who can attain what ram speed. As quality of traces will vary from system to system. Which might lead to people who can't hit those speeds feeling kinda ripped of.

It’s been more than 6 months after launch.

Other laptops are supporting 2666 by default and not to mention Clevo...

If it is a budget laptop, I’m fine with it. They are charging 4-5k on a laptop and frankly I didn’t expect it’s locked at 2400mhz when I made the purchase. (Sorry for my impulse purchase)

I always look on specs sheet under my Due dilligence. The specs was out even before the model was ready for sale...
