Do you have very hot ambient temp where you live?

I actually get those numbers on stock paste and pads.

Does no one remember the 1080s from EVGA? ;)
The smoking can be prevented by thermal pads on the mosfets. :p

For CPU (assuming you are using regular thermal paste and not liquid metal), X method across the diagonals of the IHS works fine. I wouldn't use a dot because the static pressure on laptop heatsinks is atrocious, IMO.
For GPU, spread it across the entire chip.

No problem :) I meant to say : Stock Pads and Paste, not changing the paste nor repaste ;).

But it seems like I couldn't help myself.. I repasted & repad, was bored to have all this stuff sitting on my table...

and yes I know…. my thermal pad application is ugly… but damn.. I tried with the tool provided by Gelid and wasn't that easy… anyway… too much is not going to ruin it … just spending too much :/ :

Well, I didn't have the time to check… got nice idle temps… but when the Cpu spikes… freaking 99/97°C and lowering quickly to 75/80s... I Don't have AW softwares installed yet...

I saved the RAM & SSDs from HIDevolution but I had to send the computer back to Dell, that was part of the deal… and… it seems like I'll regret my previous i9-9900k, I should've own a nice one… because the one I have in the swaped unit seems to run way hotter even with repaste/repad… (yes ambiant temperature raised where I leave that could explain… and I'm not yet on throttlestop, pure stock settings).

I am wondering with the people receiving their laptop's as of recently if you guys could check if any other changes have been made to the gpu, cpu power or anything else along with the rest of the problem areas of the board. Just out of curiosity if they changed any thing again.

Can someone tell me if these are good CrystalDiskMark scores?

    Rand. Read 4KiB (Q=8,T=8) : 1580 MB/s
    Rand. Write 4KiB (Q= 8,T= 8) : 1654 MB/s

And are these bad by comparison?

    Rand.Read 4KiB (Q= 8,T= 8) : 1166 MB/s
    Rand. Write 4KiB (Q= 8,T= 8) : 1150 MB/s

I'd say they're about average. Depends on the Nvme though.

SK does that cooling pad do any good with the 51m?
I think the black and red theme looks a bit "Klingon" but probably that's just me.

Wondering when we're going to get the 4K screens, July or Fall... By then we'll know more on the failure rate anyway. And by then maybe they'll update to Comet Lake, but that will probably up the heat level too.
