You should never let your GPU reach 90C. That's very hot for a graphics card. It's not worth the risk for a few extra FPS (speaking to the average gamer who is considering flashing their card).

Yes they should fully support them without issue. Nothing as far as we know has changed except the Gpu's.

If you are going to upgrade to a 880m you would need a new heat sink that is of the 3 pipe variety vs the 2 pipe the 770m has but the 870m might still only be using 2 pipes.

It's all speculation right now since no one has any of the said cards yet.

Only cards that are offered as part of a models potential original configuration will work without issue. For cards that are not a choosable option during configuration from Dell, then it's more hit & miss with regards to whether they will work or not. At the very least you would lose Optimus by using a non-standard card, and it's quite possible that the A17 might need a modified BIOS in order to use non-standard cards. This is the way it's worked in the past for the M17xR3 (my laptop - I'm using a non-standard card in mine), M17xR4, etc. If in the future Dell offer the A17 with certain 800 series cards, then those specific cards will be fully compatible upon release, and you won't need to mess about with modified BIOS and you won't lose Optimus.

As a taster, this is the sort of thing you have to go through to get a non-standard GPU to work on the M17xR3, it would likely be roughly similar with the A17 (post #92 in this thread):
