OK. another question. Does the 330W charger provide enough power for both i9 8950HK OC and GTX1080? And to explain myself, if the temps were better would the i9 reach higher frequencies for all cores at the same time as is it limited by Intel/CPU specs itself?

The 330W charger is more than enough.

If I'm not mistaken, the max, stock frequencies for the 8950HK when all six cores are loaded is 4.3ghz, so even if the CPU would stay under 50 degree under full load, if you didn't overclock it, the max boost for all core would be 4.3ghz

I think 8950HK goes from 2.9GHz to 4.7 or 4.8GHz without overclock. I have seen it going to 4.8GHz with overclock off

Depends how you see it. If Dell cripple the power limits, put power cap as theiy did with last Aw18 models or the temp limits stop you from use more power from a single 330w, then Yes. But there is a reason MSI deliver 2x330w psu combo with same hardware instead of the usual 330w for their gamingbook models. Oc'd hardware will need more than single 330w psu. Run the power adapter near or above it's limits won't help on longeivity or stability. And I'm not sure if you are allowed to run 2x230 or 2x330w psu due hardcoded or firmware coded power cap on this alienware models.

I feel Alienware has no right whatsoever to sell a 4000$ laptop with temp issues like this, if I did bad at my job I get warning then im fired where as they get a pass. Do your fu#$* job your gettin paid to do or get f@# out of the industry. Sorry just frustrated we should not ever have to worry with this price tag.

It is 2 x 230W usually for the SLI systems (dual GTX 1070), but now I see also for the i9 models. Considering the i9 can go up to 90W briefly or longer if you can keep it cool (TDP is 45W), and the GTX 1080 is at 200W, and then the rest of the laptop, the 330W comes really close but still sufficient.

    I have a single 330w PSU for my 8700k and 1080.

Cpu is running at 4.8ghz with no issues.

Maybe MSI live by the "better safe than sorry"
