I've always had a theory that the Samsung NVME driver basically overclocks the Polaris/Phoenix controller (higher sequential reads since it's all throughput at this point) and uses aggressive DRAM caching for incoming writes (which alongside overclocked controller results in higher random write). This is probably why it uses so much power compared to the MSFT driver.

What is interesting is that compared to modern drives like the HP EX950 which can achieve Samsung NVME driver speeds using the MSFT driver.

Samsung NVMe drivers keep the drives from going to idle states quickly that's why the higher performance.

    What’s a mint AW13 OLED worth spec’d like this?

    7700HQ
    GTX 1060
    2 x 8 memory
    256 Toshiba
    1tb crucial SATA
    1435 WiFi

It’s flawless and honestly has very little use. Spent most of its time powered down.

Maybe 500$ subtracted from original price. OLED laptop sells for higher price than LCD IPS/TN. Probably you can buy a new AW by selling AW 13.

They’re not even listed for sale anymore.

What did they cost new like this spec? $1800?

More or less the same thing you quoted. 1800$ for bare spec with small SSD and RAM.

Ok i've got one coming in. It hasn't been torn down yet.

What mods have you all done to these? Is LM worth it?

I never thought I would ever have one so I didn't pay much attention to threads and issues with this particular laptop.

Best bet is to skim through the 800 pages while waiting for the laptop to be delivered. Best time to read is during a toilet break to dispense bodily fluids and crap.
