Love my R13 R3. Best laptop I have owned so far. The build quality and construction is by far the best I have seen IMO. Weight is definitely much more than the MSI GS63VR. I also had a HP spectre 360 couple of weeks back but returned it also. That was light to the point I couldn't even feel it when I was holding it. I think those laptops are meant for women to be honest!

Is there a way to limit battery charging on Alienware 13 Kaby Lake?

Lenovo laptops have an option to limit battery charge to 60% (Lenovo Energy Manager - Conservation mode). Is there a similar option in the new AW's?
My laptop is usually plugged in and the last thing I want is always having a 100% charged battery in a hot running system. That degrades battery life pretty quickly. Tried and tested my self.
I cannot see "Desktop mode battery charge" option anywhere. Installed the Alienware OSD application too.

The whole lag/stutter thing has never bothered me but is anyone else able to confirm that there is no lag anymore when clicking on the battery icon for instance? I thought I maybe I had discrete GPU mode selected but no. Wondering if there has been an automatic update intstalled which has fixed it.

I removed the killer Wifi driver and has ow transferred a file sized 60 GB at 20 - 45 mb/s sec. No drop out. It seems windows uses a qualcom driver dated feb 2016 instead. I have kept the killer Ethernet Performance suite.
Funny but the gauge in the killer app has never shown the speed while doing filetransfers.

I´ll probably try the intel 8260 in order to see which perform best. They are very cheap om ebay.

Any of you smell something burning lightly when running a game or a benchmark?

I notice it only when I smell the vents (i keep my nose almost to it) on the side and the back. (Specifically left and top left).

All the temps are normal - ish (max 75 C).

I bought my AW13R3 (Skylake) in December.

    Haha! I don't too (usually).
But this is my first gaming laptop.

And I am worried that I may end up with buyer's remorse.

    (
I have always built my own desktop since 2004 and use that for gaming.
And before you ask: yes do I sniff my desktops on occasion.
    ).

Same boat as you. This is my first laptop and I've always built my own desktops. So far I'm pretty happy with it.

And no I've never sniffed my desktop
