Is Navi gonna be multiple chips on a board then? I have to admit I'm not keeping up with all the details from the upcoming architectures from AMD. And yes, when we hit the die shrink wall then we're all in unkown territory as to the future of computing!

Yes navi is a scalable multichip architecture which presents as a single gpu. This could be big for amd and is certainly a more significant step then vega was. With more and more performance gains falling upon the architecture to be realized, techs like this represent what big companies like amd need to stay in the game long term.

As long as its better than sli & crossfire, I imagine it will have to be by both definition and inevitability! Definitely a way to get around the limits of process shrinkage, until silicon is superceded.

Wow, July 30th hey for a launch date of the GTX 1180, just over a month from now! From the video it sounds like the new cards won't be a massive bump in performance over Pascal in traditional games, but the supposed inclusion of tensor cores would allow it to support ray tracing for future game development - at the moment this doesn't seem to be a particularly attractive proposition for an upgrade.

Wow if its true then theres that old performance / price ratio im talking about. Increase in price with little increase in performance. Going by nvidias retail release pattern, if amds navi cards can come out in late 2019 like they want then amd may be back on top by late 2019 early 2020. But im talking mainly about their profit ratio not nessicarily the perspective from buyers who will see a smaller benefit.
