Yes, read the whole thread, the story evolved over time, add to that thread if you want to contribute your thoughts.

On topic for this thread is the Metro: Exodus RTX bait being dangled, don't take the bait! :)

Shadow of The Tomb Raider ray tracing and DLSS with apparent patch by Mid March.

    https://schedule.gdconf.com/session...-tracing-deep-dive-presented-by-nvidia/865256

This session will cover how Nixxes and NVIDIA went about adding ray traced shadows for directional, spot, point and area light sources in the recently released patch to Shadow of the Tomb Raider. NVIDIA will cover what went well and what didn't in all aspects of the work, from BVH construction to implications on content, and finally the tracing and denoising of the results.

@Talon , that BFV DLSS patch is being released today (like you mentioned). Have you tested it yet to see if what kind of an fps increase you get vs any visual quality degredation or maybe instead even quality enhancement?

It's supposed to be released today, although there it may be delayed a day or two according to online sources. The content of the patch is verified, the day was more fluid. I do think it might still get released today and I will be testing it if it does release. If it's anything like the Port Royal benchmark/test then I expect to see some really good results. Using DLSS in that scenario lead to absolutely zero visual difference in resolution but rather made the image far clearer, cleaner, and sharper. However that is a contained demonstration so I am eager to see how they apply that to a real world game outside of Final Fantasy. There are a lot of non-RTX owners that parrot it's nothing different than using 1800p or simply using a resolution slider and that is 100% not true at all. In those cases the visual fidelity, sharpness, and clarity all tank. The results of DLSS are a different beast altogether and it's actually quite remarkable. If it wasn't something different why would AMD call it a unique feature and be currently working on their own version.

With Nixxes at the helm, I wonder if we'll see a DLSS patch for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. It's an older game, but it's still fun and could look even better.

How is rendering at a lower resolution and upscaling it - no matter how faithfully it's done - better than native resolution?

You *want* console checker-boarding like 4k on PC's now too?

Official tweet from Dice -- Battlefield V Patch drops tomorrow and includes the DLSS update. Expect the new Nvidia driver either today or early tomorrow morning.

Again as previously posted, the leaked patch notes match exactly official patch notes and include DLSS and improvements to ray tracing.

    http://eaassets-a.akamaihd.net/dice-commerce/Casablanca/Update_Notes/20190213-01/Battlefield_V_Chapter_2_Lightning_Strikes_Update_13022019_ FINAL.pdf

Also expecting that driver update coming tomorrow to include DLSS profiles for both Battlefield V and Metro Exodus as it launches Feb 15th with day one support for ray tracing and possibly DLSS (unclear if DLSS is day one as well).

Like DSR? Which is another subjectively useless "option".

DSR requires huge GPU power to render at 4x native resolution (usually 4k render DSR to 1080p) that drops FPS in half for "different looking" images. Too large of a performance hit for no gaming advantage, just like RT RT.

Using the whole BS "cesspool" of RTX "options" as a reason to force mindless folk into getting crappy RTX GPU's over AMD GPU's; it is the craziest demonstration of the idiocy of human thought.

There is 1 game with RTX, no DLSS - for 6 months! And, so RTX is baggage one doesn't need, not a feature one desires.

[I'm ignoring the Quake exercise of RT when counting games.]

Even after the "deluge" of RTX in what, 2 more games "coming soon", that's only 3 games!

Not even funny how stupid RTX is, it's far worse than a joke, it's a mind plague, a virus of stupid, a denial of reality.

RTX is the worst stupid BS Nvidia has ever tried to use to pull the wool over Nvidia Sheep so Nvidia can reach around for suckers wallets.

Now we know you're just spreading misinformation! We all know Quake II got ray tracing!
