*except the Macs. And some studio xps's. But other than that, it's a problem among all notebooks. They can't give the 200$ quality that $200 headphones are supposed to give.

How is the sound quality of the speakers themselves? And what exactly is the problem with the headphone jack?

Sound quality of the speaker itself is good, about average for me since I am a n audiophile. The sound in the headphone jack is bad and distorted.

Does it have good bass? And would it be better than normal speakers from like a 600 dollar 3 year old laptop?

My music doesn't require much bass so can't say for sure. I only have a Macbook as a comparison and Macbook audio is some of the best on a notebook. I can say that the normal speaker work fine, though I wish they were more louder.

Thank you, I'll probably hook up my turtle beaches to the digital out of my p170. Do you think this will get good sound quality?
