Looks like the ENVY 15 and ENVY 17 product names will live on!!! There will be a brand new lineup of ENVY 15 and ENVY 17 notebooks that are scheduled to be released on June 5th.

There will also be an ENVY TouchSmart 14 model, which will offer a 3200x1800 resolution display option. This notebook will be released later in the summer.

justinkw1--Thanks for posting this. Had just logged a post lamenting the end of the high-end, high-quality Envy laptops. Hopefully HP does/will have something ahead like the "old" Envy 14, 15 and 17 models. Just wish they could find that Radiance screen again!

Thanks for the sleuth work Justin, that's exciting to see. I only hope that it is a reincarnation of the former ENVY 15 and 17 and not some type of watered down offering that we've seen with the likes of the ENVY 6t that really doesn't deserve to be called a premium notebook. Fingers crossed for high end design, premium processors and graphics. Keep us posted on anything else that crops up.

would love to see envy 14 with radiance back as well! ( now that i have one , i see what the fuss was about)

imagine:
haswell cpu i5 would be fine
HD 8850m , or something in that range
with 14 inch radiance display , would be a very nice machine!!

Following this forum for years and never a thread with information of upcoming product, especially for a new Envy notebook was so dead.

I guess all the idiotic moves and stupid problems HP introduced with the Envy's the last couple of years really paid off....

Congrats HP..

I noticed it said the following

Possibilities?
•Intel versions may include 8-series chipset and 4th generation

Core processor options (Haswell-based)

I would hope that since Haswell are due out soon (june) that would be a given at this point.

How about an option not to include a Blue-ray/DVD player slot (remember optional for those who may not want it).

1 thunderbolt port (along with the 3 or 4 USB 3.0 ports)

Good SSD+HDD options

fyi - I am specifically referring to the >> ENVY 17-jXXX notebooks

Maybe the new Envy 15/17s will finally have a touch-pad that isn't absolutely horrible? I don't think it's asking too much...

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thunderbolt would be amazing, as well as optionable 2k+ displays, and of course, 120hz.
and nothing less than radeon #800m, better #950/#970m (according to some rumors even the 9000 series should come this year, so please skip the 8000 rebrands)
and, of course, availability in EUROPE as well, not just US & UK :D

Hoping for a great display, solid construction. no optical drive, support for 2 HDD and a switch to NVIDIA 750m because switchable graphics were always a pain.

I have an Envy 17-3200 laptop and it is the best laptop I have seen to date, and I think the best laptop HP has made (I am including the Envy 15 3000/3200 along with the Envy 17 3000/3200). I was very disappointed that HP discontinued their best models. I hope that the new ones come with the premium materials of the 3000/3200 or even better materials. Higher Resolution I would not complain about and better battery life (though 3-5 hours with my 17 is amazing for how powerful it is). I like having a blu-ray drive and the ability to have 3 hard drives in my 17 (2x 2.5in drives and msata drive).

Now if they come with an AMD processor, that would be interesting (with PS4 and the next Xbox having AMD CPUs and GPUs), AMD might start getting a leg up in gaming due to all games being optimized for them.

best consumer notebook by HP, yes.
however, the elitebook 8##0w series surpass any consumer notebook by far, and same with any other brand.

if you want best possible quality with best possible customer service (yes, by HP ;-) ) and almost best possible performance (except from desktop hardware in a notebook by eurocom), go for an elitebook 87#0w, for a corresponding price of course. once youve worked with one of these, you realize that HP is able to make the best notebooks one can buy (however, they dont do that with most of their lineup, understandably).

Just wanted to provide a clarification: the graphics options I mentioned earlier only pertain to the ENVY TouchSmart 15-j000 models with AMD processors.

Here are the graphics options for ENVY 15-jXXX and ENVY 17-jXXX notebook models with an Intel processor (from sp61270):

• Intel HD Graphics 4000 (IVY BRIDGE platforms)
• Intel HD Graphics 4600 (HASWELL platforms)
• NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M

o_O I see. I am a bit behind on Is there any architectural changes going from 600s-> 700s for nvidia? I was thinking its all rebranding again. if it is rebranding its still fallng short since the 7750m is right under the 650m (or 750m i would think now). I guess now it depends on the body of the laptop. if its ultra sleek (like 3-4.5 lbs) then its a contender and maybe the price. the zenbook u500 is 4.7 lbs but with 650m however the price is steep

--------

EDIT: did some research, the 740m is a rebrand of 650m :( meaning not much improvement in performance section..... now all it depends on is form factor :p

-----

EDIT 2: From looking at the picture closely, it seems to be a merge of the newer HP ultrabooks and older envy 15. The speakers seem to be more refined and positioned like the other ultrabooks (but less maybe?). The inclusion of number pad+ fingerprint scanner was something iw anted from the older envy 153xxx butt something I had to sacrifice. I'm sad to see there is no audio knob (I loved the little wheel :(). The screen bezel, and body seem to be more compact (hopefully smaller 14in footprint with 15in screen?) with less wasteful space than the 153xxx. I'm happy to see that they got rid of the line on the touchpad. it is really useless and prevented the bottom quarter of the touchpad from being used

NB: NVIDIA N14P-GT is 750M and NVIDIA GK208-ES is the new chip, however id rather place these specific ones in the low/mid-end range (but this is pure speculation), ie. 710m-750m for the envy 15; since 740m & 750m seem to be confirmed with this softpaq.

...would confirm the indication that they are again some thin ultrabook-like envies, and not entertainment desktop replacements the real envies used to be :(

hope they put in some high-end radeon for the envy 17... at least 8800m, better 8900m, or even better wait for 9800m/9900m.
