So the laptop 2060 / 1160 announcement won't happen along side the desktop 2060 announcement?

As of now the rumor is announcement on Jan 7th (pre-CES), and shipping Jan 15th, which makes the Jan 26th laptop manufacturer embargo date a bit odd...

Ahh, it's a reviewer embargo, not a manufacturer embargo:
    https://www.notebookcheck.net/Nvidi...000-mobility-lineup-at-CES-2019.374321.0.html

"Nvidia already started to send out samples to OEMs and select testers, but the embargo for reviews will not be lifted until January 26 next year."

Yeah Nvidia itself will reveal the GPUs, and the manufacturers will show off the laptops and declare that they have "Next-Generation Nvidia GPUs", but nothing will officially launch/be reviewed until after January 26th.

(Well I said GTX 1080, but GTX 1070 Ti is on par with laptop GTX 1080...so...:)

I definitely have to eat crow on this one, I said vanilla 1070 at best.

By those numbers it almost reaches 1070 Ti and 1070 Ti is very close to the laptop GTX 1080.

I can't wait for the 20 series or Navi based laptops to be revealed in 2019. I'm still rocking my 120Hz 680M Alienware 17 R3 till today and this upgrade will blow my mind and my wallet alike! I wanted to buy the MSI GT75 for a while now but was not being able to do it because of some financial limitations.

    My body is ready!

I'm going to pump the brakes on these 2060 benches. It hit me that Nvidia's pre-release benches for some of the other RTX cards had them 40-45% faster than their predecessor Pascal chips, but real world testing was like 25%.

    I hope it's true though.

Guess we'll find out soon enough. I'll consider replacing my 980M-based P750DM-G over the next year, so will be paying attention.

Mobile Turing, MW5:Mercenaries, Disco Elysium, Untitled Goose Game -- should be an interesting year for a gamer. Hopefully CPDR will at least be more communicative, but I'm not going to assume a 2019 release for CP2077 given how quiet they currently are.

Perhaps in a parallel universe GRRM finishes his manuscript for ASOIAF #6 and gets a cameo in the Bannerlord release date announcement video, heh.

Cant wait to see what these new GPU’s in real time.
Surprisingly I’m more interested in 2060/1160 cards, my next laptop has to be a thin and lite without having crazy loud fans.
I’m still good gaming at 1080p, give me nice 144hz screen and CPU that’s doesn’t throttle and that’s all I need.

The RTX 2060 reviews are out now. Here's Techpowerups performance summary at 1080p:

So it is actually faster than both the Vega 64 and GTX 1070 Ti.

That's going to be a great card for mid-range laptops.
