    Hey guys,

So windows downloaded some new really big update a few days ago. I finally installed it last night and now my laptop glitches/freezes every 5 seconds or so. Like the screen freezes, for a second or two and then my mouse reappears wherever it actually is. Needless to say this makes my laptop completely unusable especially for my work. Does anyone have any idea what's going or what I could check? I've tried restarting the laptop multiple times.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

was this like a major update like from Creators Update to Fall Creators Update? you would be able to tell because those major updates would show you like a new installation wizard upon the first reboot as if you had just installed Windows. If that's the case then I suggest you find updates for all your drivers and Antivirus if you're using a 3rd party AntiVirus

I'm on my BlackBerry right now but once I'm on my laptop I'd be able to go into more detail

And what version of Windows are we talking about? One has to be more specs and no one system update acts the same so if something went wrong during the updates then there will be problems and that isn't Windows Updates fault. Your fix is to restore to factory install and redo Windows Update without using it and if it goes well should work without problems. And since no one can see or do anything to it then it requires a computer shop to look at it.

Sorry. I'm running Windows 10. I'm not quite sure which update it was. (how do i check?). It was a big one though. Took a long time to install. I managed to get my laptop working properly again by rolling back to the previous version of windows. I guess that's good for now but I would eventually like to update right? What should i do?

The problem with upgrading from a previous build to a new one, especially with this Fall Creators Update is that numerous registry settings, files, DLLs, etc. were changed, thus, the old ones are still there and bogging the system down which is why I and most other enthusiasts recommend a clean install with the latest build for a better experience. Not saying that the Fall Creators Update is good, IMO, it is one broken OS that needs a lot of fixing to make it work half decent, say bye bye to perfection.

I just re-tested the single thread and now it has sped back up. It seems whatever was hanging up has been freed back up, hopefully this fixes everything.

    Hey guys
So I delayed getting the update again for months until Windows just decided to do it on it's own again. So I let it finally update and..... the exact same problem. This is driving me nuts. I'm going to have to revert the update and go back to the old version again if I cant find a solution. And I guess I'll just never be able to update windows? This sucks.

It kind of feels like the lag you get when you first boot your laptop up. Like it's still loading a bunch of stuff. But it never goes away. I've left the laptop on for hours and it still happens. Screen freezes every few seconds and then goes back to normal.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just can't figure this out.
