We still read Huckleberry Finn at high school. We also read Catcher in the Rye, Fahrenheit 451, Night, To Kill a Mockingbird, Uncle Tom's Cabin, and the Great Gatsby. I think people are sissies.

Well, we've taken common sense reasoning out of any of the decision making here since so few seem to posses it. So this is what you get.

Don't know about you, but my common sense dictates me "it's a freakin' t-shirt, who gives a crap."
I'm more pissed at some wannabee teenage poseur girl wearing a Nirvana t-shirt without knowledge about their actual music (except maybe Smells Like Teen Spirit) than some dude wearing a storm trooper with a rifle t-shirt.

What about the teenagers wearing a shirt with a picture of Che Guevara and not knowing what he stood for.

That too. I'm generally against the idea of someone (not just annoying teenage girls) wearing a t-shirt with band/person/whatever on it without knowing what it is.

In and of itself, you are absolutely correct. But maybe this one connotes a bit more:

and if you feel okay about that one, then maybe this with an underlying political connotation:

You know parents will freak when one is allowed and others are not, and again, where exactly do you draw the line? It's a big enough distraction and the schools are deciding not to deal with it- hence the draconian rules. I blame parents more than the school's lack of good judgement.

That is stood for revolution of the oppressed and helped free Cubans from that repressive regime?

And oh yeah, only to enslave them in a totalitarian police state worst than the last.
