Anyone encounter this and have a fix / calibration option I haven't found?

Hope the keyboard isn't screwed up on a new unit.

Starting at screen center it takes less than 2 seconds to move to the right edge (counting, 1000-1, 1000-2). Doing the same thing it takes over 4 seconds to move to the left edge.

I figured it out... sort of, at least its working. I took off the red nub and the underlying 'trackpoint' square moved left/right/up/down equally well... so it was the nub. I tried substituting an extra nub from my T560 (this is a p52s) and it worked but bound in all directions a little bit as the nub on the t580 is small (as a heavy trackpoint user, not a fan of the smaller nub so far we will see).

So I went back to the original nub but rotated it 90 degees and then going 'up' was slower... I did this 3-4 times until i'm guessing whatever was rubbing wore off and now its equal in all directions.

I did have to crank up the sensitivity on it though… the default was way to slow for my liking.

Make sure that the replacement nub you're using isn't taller then the original.

Taller can mean the trackpoint squishes into screen when lid is closed, which could lead to screen damage.

Good to know. I'm actually using the original nub... apparently whatever bit was causing the problem wore off after repeated remove/add as I spun it 90 degrees each time seeing...ooh... now its slow going up... now it slow going right... and so on. But good to know to match the nub with the model to avoid screen damage.

Just report this to tech support and you'll get a new keyboard.

You can insist to be shipped a Lite-ON FRU keyboard, which is apparently the best for those models with removable keyboards.
