While continuing the search for a sleek, simple, professional designed 14-15 inch laptop with a resolution of above 1366x768, above average viewing angels, a decent dedicated gpu, with a decent battery life of around 3-5 hours. I somehow discovered the new Gigabyte p2532H. This laptop will be released soon from Gigabyte technologies which is a Taiwanese company that is known for making quality motherboards.

Here's a link to the laptop, the build quality seems quite superb. I really like the aesthetics of the laptop with the matte black cover and it seems to have a aluminum palm rest. The new vents in the back is very stylish but not too flashy. Reminds me of a G53s or lamborgini notebook. The bottom can be opened up quite easily for post market upgrades. This laptop reminds me of early day asus models.. with the silver lining and awesome looking bamboo styled hinge (asus w3) for the cover.

I have never heard of this company until now, I'm tempted to pick this model up after it is released.. but its advertisement of being the thinnest 15.6 inch second generation sandy bridge i7 model seems to be doubtful.. The weight is around 5.7 pounds which is good. I really like the design but it does seem pretty thick actually? I compared it to the Asus n53sv and also the Sager np5160 and both of these laptops are thinner compared to the P2532...can anyone check me on the dimensions? It looks pretty thick for a 15 inch laptop in the pictures.

The specifications are competitive with a Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM Processor and reportedly a GT 550 or 555. A past review of the P2532N could be found here.

Has anyone purchased a Gigabyte notebook before? How was the build quality and service? Are there any other better options out there right now? I'm open for suggestions.. even though I have already done massive amounts of research... will probably wait until ivy bridge/ better screens come out in Q2 or 2012......

    Thanks guys!~

I was looking at these and I am impressed thus far. About the only thing it lacks for me is a backlit keyboard. I am in a dark or dimly lit room most of the time and it makes it difficult to see the keys. I don't always need them lit, but it sure helps at times. I wonder if you could replace the keyboard with a backlit option?

Gigabyte is a very well respected company in the desktop computer market. They make motherboards and video cards.

I'm curious to know if they are the ODM of this laptops. If they are I might be tempted to grab one of these.

Looks like a good laptop, though I wish the battery were a little bigger.
