Most of the 1070 Max-Q notebooks start at 2000-2100.. there's no way unless it's a cheap fatbook...

I meant the price of the laptop gpu. Now if I can accumulate 5K again for my next gaming rig rather than upgrading or buying a new clevo laptop, I'm leaning on assembling a small form factor pc with 9900K & gtx 2080TI. I'm pretty sure a budget of 3K is more than enough so the remaining will be expend on a high end monitor/tv and a ps4 pro. A win win for me

All this doesn't sound too exciting for the 2080 Max-Q... seems like we'll only get around 20% increase over 1080 AT BEST for most likely a HUGE increase in price.

Hardware Unboxed's video shows about a 1% average improvement, with some games showing the 1080ti as faster than the 2080, here are the 1440p average comparison:
    2080 vs 1080ti 1440p.jpg
Given the current 2080 selling price of $799 through Nvidia, with nice highend 2080's with tri-fan cooling selling for $829-$869 at newegg, while you can get nice used 1080ti's for $500-550, and with no RT (hairworks) or DLSS (fake 4k - rendered at 1/2 4k) games shipping, it would seem like this Nvidia GPU generation is a bust.

Unless you want to sell your 1080ti for $500 and spend $1,169-$1,300 (USA) ($600-$800 more) for a 2080ti? :)

I wonder how the 2070 will fair against the 1070ti / 1080 / Vega 56/64 selling used for less? Given the lower specs for RT / TC in the 2070, the 2070 may not make sense for the new RTX features either, when games with RTX features start shipping...

Yeah I'd just wait at least until the next console gen. Ray tracing is still at its infancy and barely any games will support it. Along with you pretty much having to play at 1080p to get acceptable framerates with it on.
