I'm quite pleased with how the E series has been developing into a much better notebook, getting more premium options as they go mainstream.

that said, they lack a backlit keyboard. does anyone know of a third party solution with backlighting that could be swapped out for the keyboard it come with?

    thanks!

ThinkPads used to be a bit more egalitarian when every ThinkPad got a ThinkLight, which in my opinion is better than a backlit keyboard because the quality of the keyboard is better without the backlight. This is no longer the case. Lenovo only offers backlighting on more premium models like the P, T and X series in an effort to get people to spend more money as they prefer backlights.

If I am not mistaken you can use a backlit keyboard in a ThinkPad that doesn't offer it, like the E or L series, and it'll work, except the backlight. I don't know of another solution, though a solution may exist without my knowledge.
