I mean, you aren't exactly limited in choices, they account for like 5% of available models and are in the first generation of the product. If in the next few iterations they a)haven't solved the heating issues or b)have actually replaced regular and MXM models entirely, THEN I'll complain. But until then I don't think it's worth worrying about if you don't like it.

Expect Nvidia will go back to its roots. Mobile graphics, but BGA all the way and lower performance than it's desktop models. Goodbye laptops. We already seeing the direction. Maybe they close the gap vs. before. Now 10-15% lower performance vs. desktop graphics as the normal. Vs. 30% lower performance they used to put for Mobile graphics.

I'm thinking they're going to continue both lines for the moment at least. I think they still want to have the M type cards, but the popularity of the non-Ms will mean they will stick around as well.

Yeah, probably. But a damn smart move from Ngreedia
remove the older M branding and replace it with the more expensive Max-Q:D oh'well, we will see more of their greed when Volta coming:cool: We need AMD step up as with their processor line.

I hope AMD hits from the workstation side myself. That area needs a refresh IMO and AMD should be the one to do it.

And was still expensive. Nvidia would probably charge same bucks for cut down or not for the top dogs Volta M.

I don't think they(M cards) were expensive because nVidia made them expensive. I think the notebook community tried charging a lot for them and it apparently worked so they decided to keep them expensive. Speculations. :D

I kind of miss the days of old M series GPUs. In the sense that they were abundant and selling an old card to fund an upgrade was pretty straightforward. Now there's so few new gen MXM machines in the wild and no potential market to sell off a second hand GPU to upon upgrade. It really screwed up the whole ecosystem.
