That was because of the television industry, which just happened to use 16:9. And yet most recent films aren't shot in 16:9 - they use a ridiculous ultra-widescreen 2.39:1. Why doesn't everyone just follow one nice standard, i.e. 8:5, as proven by maths? The golden ratio is called that for a reason...

I wish I knew. Sager is very good at keeping new models to themselves until the day they are ready so sell. We may know a day or so ahead of time to add the pages to our site, but thats about the most we'll ever know ahead of time.

Like many folks here, I preferred the more square resolutions: I wasn't crazy about leaving 4:3 and I similarly miss 16:10. However, I hookup my laptop to an ultrawide 21:9 (3440x1440) monitor on a daily basis for general productivity. I see ultrawide as having two more square monitors (10.5:9) side-by-side, which I quite enjoy. In other words, ultrawide is actually nice when you go so wide that you actually get a second monitor's worth out of it.

The standard sort of widescreens we have today I'll likely never be a fan of.

Not all Clevos are plastic, so there is some choice ... only nothing below 15.6". Rationale might go like this; 'customer for petite laptop wants petite weight' ... or some-such.

Hmm ... 3D scanner+printer service shop; “Send us your plastic parts and we'll metallise them!”. Now for a name ... PlasticsAway, PolymersBeGone, PET2Metal ... that sort of thing. Or 'carbonate carbonise carbon fiberise them!', perhaps?

I did recently replace one of my 1920x1200 with a 4096x2160 monitor and kinda like it a lot :). The remaining 2 1920x1200 may be on their way out soon
Even 4K there is 3840x2160 and Cinema 4K 4096x2160. One of my 1920x1200 just got replaced by a 4096x2160 and when I watch 3840 movies there black bars on the side .

Ugh. Slightly thinner W230SD with Skylake and 965M where are you!? What a great blend of power / portability that isn't a furnace that would be.

The W230S series is in need of an overhaul, not a slight change. And it gravely needs more VRAM - as a flight simmer, I hit the 2GB limit extremely easily.

I suppose that wouldn't be a bad thing to get the case more up to date, and the thermals could use a little love. Still salty over not getting a 965m in there though... Would've been perfect. Or even the GTX 950 desktop equivalent for mobile.
