My lowly Saturn also has that.

Today's Sport mode more often than not can also affect throttle response as well, unlike the systems in our cars. :)

ECT is like an Overdrive On/Off button which is quite different from a Sport Mode although I can see how they can be seen as similar.

Sport mode on the new Focus however, basically changes the usual fuel economy thinking ways of the transmission in order to stay in gears closer to the power band depending on your speed, it also downshifts more readily when braking.

Afaik it just disables the overdrive, letting you run without 4th gear...

My 1993 Camry had ETC and O/D on/off. The ETC changed the shifting pattern completely, so it behaved more like a manual shift mode without driver control, pretty much sports mode without a triptronic, didn't have anything to do with O/D. O/D is a different, but similar, function.

Ok, I think in the short time the 2012 Focus has been out, I've seen more of them on the road than 2011 Fiesta's which have been out since last year.

The 2012 Focus is gonna make Ford A LOT of money...the car (older rev) already made top selling car in the UK for Jan. 2011!

Aesthetically the new Focus and Fiesta are the same? Just the Focus is a bit larger?

I think so, I haven't picked up on a real difference, but then haven't really paid attention.

Well, both follow the same, general design philosophy but the Focus is quite a bit bigger and features higher quality fit, finish and materials.

The Focus sedan looks A LOT better than the Fiesta sedan which looks horrendous. The Focus sedan looks very good along with the hatch whereas the Fiesta hatch is the only Fiesta that looks good.

It's a pretty quick little car for what is, most people are reporting 0-60 times in the 7.5s range which is WAY better than the roughly 9.0s of the older models...

Ford Racing is due to come out with some aftermarket performance upgrades in the coming months, things like intake and exhaust. It's definitely a fun little car with surprising agility and features.
