I would rather have a 12" notebook than a 10" netbook , at the moment at least functionality wise, but some netbooks give great battery life.
They need a new name for netbooks... Something that makes it sound more different from notebook, like surftop or something. Still, it makes me wonder how people think they can buy a netbook and expect a mobile workstation.
That's just people not knowing anything about what they're ordering. They should be told they'll get a laptop like they had a couple of years ago but then very small. Not completely true ofcourse but then they have an idea of the power of these things. Modern apps often need more than those old laptops could offer ofcourse and the same goes for netbooks. Just use it as a fancy email/internet and office machine and you should be good.
agree..I thought it read notebook /U] then re-read netbook..
As far as I'm concerned, netbook is prefect.
-Long battery life (7 hours, now 6.5 hours after using it on battery for like 5-10 hours a day for 9 month.
-720P, 1080P blueray rip Hi-Def media center for my TV
-Sort of Video editing thinclient workstation
-AutoCAD2008/Maya2009/after effects 3d thinclientworkstation
-beautiful led screen
-silent, no fan noise (i turned the fan off through manupilating the EC)
-$420CAD when it came out, now $350CAD or $350USD and $300USD.
I'd prefer a 12" notebook over a 10" netbook too, but the big issue is cost. Until netbooks came along the cheapest "subcompact" notebook (typically 12") you could buy cost $1500, and it usually included a way underpowered CPU and GPU as well. At least with netbooks for $300 - $400 I can rationalize the purchase of a machine with low performance components.
people never learn that you always get what you paid for.
Yeah yeah yeah....I would be one of those peep's whom is satisfied with their netbook.
I have the Dell Mini Inspiron 9 (Cherry Red). It's with me daily during the week.
The purchase price I paid for it, has paid itself well. I have never had a problem with it. It's great for portability, mobility, and for net usage, IMing, listening to music etc. It does exactly what I expect it to do!
Would I purchase another Netbook sometime in future?? You bet!
(Though, the one I have now is sufficient enough).
Things likes this, and surveys...always come down to individual choice.
I think I would be vary happy with a Dell mini 9 or a Asus 1000HE, or what ever is the newest one right now.
