Need new laptop

    I'm going into college soon and I'm needing a laptop that can cover all the basic programs I'll need for class. I also need one that can handle gaming (absolute top-notch) and handle plenty of music and videos. I'm also not a patient person who likes to surf quickly and changes his mind often so I need something that can keep up with me.
    General Questions

    1) What is your budget? maximum - $1500, preferably around $1300 (with 3-4 yrs warranty) and tv tuner (if possible)

    2) What size notebook would you prefer? Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen


    3) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook? Fast-Paced Internet Surfing, microsoft office tasks (class work), gaming!!!!, dvd viewing

    4) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?
    It will be on desk.

    5) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?
    Age of Empires Series, half-life2, fear, all high end games

    6) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

    dell price is appealing

    7) How many hours of battery life do you need?
    3hrs i guess would good

    8) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person? with a good enough recommendation

    9) What country are you buying this in? USA

    Screen Specifics

    10) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?

    aground between wXGA and wUXGA.


    11) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?

    12) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?
    not really

    13) How long do you want this laptop to last?
    Atleast 4 years

    Notebook Components

    14) How much hard drive space do you want; 40GB to 120GB? 60GB or more (7200 rpm is prefered

    15) Do you need a DVD, DVD-CD/RW or DVD-R drive? dvdrw!!!def!

    16) Are there any Notebooks you have you have been looking at so far?

    what kinda specs do i need? I can wait a few months if time is a concern. I think i want a gig ram.

    I think the Dell e1705 is your best bet.

    I second the Dell E1705 - I just bought one myself - excellent notebook for gaming and multimedia purposes as well as general productivity. If you want a 15" notebook, you might want to wait around and see how the Dell E1505 turns out.
