After using all AVs out there, I always go back and will now stick to ESET NOD32 AV

you only need the AV with ESET as it has a built in HTTP Scanner so it will catch and block any bad attempts for any malicious connection

Out of ll the AVs I used, it remains the lightest and the only one that has no adverse effects on the system and 0 false positives.

see how light it is here:

I wouldn't use MBAM personally, I only use it to disinfect someone's already infected system. NOD32 is all you need. it has a great file detection scanner, HTTP scanner, and HIPS, in addition to PUP detection which a lot of AVs dont offer

No AV if you are careful enough is my way to go. Else, free AVG if you can put up with the bloat

I agree with Bitdefender too. It's lightweight and doesn't bug you with ads. I have had it crash on me on occasion but a small price to pay for no price. :D i.e. Free. Plus it is apparently one of the better to catch viruses.

I use sophos. 600K-2MB for the monitor and 6MB for the actual GUI if you ever need to pull it up.

RAM usage means NOTHING! This isn't 1996 where people have 64MB RAM or so and each MB counts! It's how the AV manages on access file scans that determines how light it is...

Sophos is one of the highest performance impact AVs!

Just had a quick look at the ESET forums and here is the last comment:
