Is there anyone good on this forum that could help me get it going? It's been a long term interest of mine but more importantly my wife who is a lifelong Mac user needs something to get her by for a little while since her old Mac just took a dump.

Yeah I've been doing a lot of reading up on the matter over there. I figured much of what works for the 7567 will apply to our 7577. I am bummed the 7577 guide got taken down due to supposed copy right issues or something. :(

Get her a new/refurb 2016 edition MBP which will last a long time. Kabylake should be fine for most. Mac users hate to switch to others. I know from experience and she will nag you for everything. You can also look at Pop OS or any Ubuntu based distro with GNOME to get her used to UI learn curve.
