I can not enter the BIOS on an Asus N56VZ-RH71 Windows 8 notebook!

I have tried F9 and F2 at startup to no avail. Can someone please provide any insight?

    Thanks!

If you have an external keyboard try using it. Since you have a very fast computer you may have to hold F2 or repeatedly press it shortly after power on.

Try ESC? It may bring up the boot device menu and let you into bios.

I have tried F2, F9, ESC at the Asus white logo, immediately at startup, held down the keys, tapped the keys, in every possible configuration at startup and nothing works!

Can anyone with this model please advise as to the precise procedure for entering the BIOS as it seems impossible!

Thanks JOSEA (and Meaker) for the link to the video on how to enter the UEFI/BIOS... it worked!

I also later found this guide outlining the procedure courtesy of the Acer support site and here it is:

Accessing the UEFI (BIOS) setup on a Windows 8 system
This article only applies to: systems with Windows 8 pre-installed

On systems with Windows 8 pre-installed, you can access the UEFI (BIOS) setup screens from the Windows 8 boot menu:

    1. Press the Windows (Image: icon_Windows8_key.png) key + C, or swipe in from the right edge of the screen to open your Charms.
    2. Click Settings.
    3. Click Change PC Settings.
    4. In PC Settings, select General.
    5. Under Advanced startup, click Restart now. The system will restart and show the Windows 8 boot menu.
    6. In the boot menu, select Troubleshoot.
    7. In the Troubleshoot menu, select Advanced options.
    8. In the Advanced options menu, select UEFI Firmware Settings.
    9. Click Restart to restart the system and enter UEFI (BIOS).

The Windows 8 boot menu will also show automatically after Windows 8 fails to start successfully three times.

    MORE INFORMATION

If you upgraded your system to Windows 8, the UEFI Firmware Settings option might not be available. If this is the case, proceed as follows: Power on the system. As soon as the first logo screen appears, immediately press the F2 key, or the DEL key if you have a desktop, to enter the BIOS.

Hope this info helps others possibly get into the UEFI/BIOS... At least it does work for my Asus N56VZ-RH71!

Try F1, F2 and Del keys to enter in ASUS N56vz-RH71 BIOS, But some Bios are different you should get a prompt when it starting up to see which key you need to press to enter the BIOS setup. Here are the list of ASUS laptops with BIOS and Boot menu keys. Asus-Boot-Menu-Table3.jpg

So I had this problem with my Asus laptop as well (Windows 8). I finally figured the trick out, and am posting this so I can Google the solution for my forgetful future self (not because I am a nice person - hehehe jk)! I know this thread is old, but here it is in case it helps anyone.

Start your laptop. Restart your laptop after it hits the login screen or desktop (or whatever that new Windows 8 thing is). The KEY STEP: Hold F2 before the computer restarts. If you wait for the computer to restart and then press or hold F2, you will just go straight to Windows. You must 1) Know which key to press (no guessing such as is it F2, F8, Esc, Del, F10, etc!!!!) and 2) press AND HOLD F2 before the computer has restarted, or at least immediately upon restart. You can wait for Windows to shut down, but as soon as your screen goes black, PRESS AND HOLD F2!!!!!
You cannot start your PC, press F2, F8, and so forth hoping to trigger the BIOS screen. So obviously, the next thing to try is this: Hold down F2, then start your laptop (from a power-off state). I just tried this AND IT WORKS. You must hold the F2 button down - not just pressing it - then with your other finger or hand or other extremity, press the power-on button to your laptop. Have fun with your ASUS BIOS and good luck not forgetting these BS steps! =D

This is frustrating as heck, and I solved it, so I had to share. Your PC may not work using these steps, but I hope it does. Good luck entering your BIOS!

    SIMPLIFIED VERSION:

STEP 1: Hold F2 before starting your laptop.
    STEP 2: Start your laptop.
