    I need a new portable lappy for school/home. Help! :p

    General Questions


    1) What is your budget? 2,000 (the less, the better)

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?
    a. Netbook; 10” screen or less
    b. Ultraportable; 11" - 12” screen
    c. Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen
    d. Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
    e. Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen
    3) Where will you buying this notebook? You can select the flag of your country as an indicator. USA/Online

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
    a. Like: Brand doesn't matter
    b. Dislike: N/A

    5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed? No thanks!

    6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook? School work, music.

    7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both? Always be with me. :)

    8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games? Nope!

    9) How many hours of battery life do you need? As much as possible. ;)

    11) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista or Windows 7), Mac OS, Linux, etc. The best. Windows 7. :)


    Build Quality and Design

    14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you? Yes! A pink lappy would be nice, but as long as it's not ugly I'm ok.<('.'<)

    15) When are you buying this laptop? End of summer. (>'.')>

    16) How long do you want this laptop to last? 4 years. ^_^

    Notebook Components

    17) How much hard drive space do you need; 80GB to 640GB? Do you want a SSD drive? SSD, I don't need a ton of space. >.<

    18) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive? Nope! Optical drives are for losers. >.>

    I suggest the HP DM4, or the Asus UL30JC. If you like the look of the m11x, there's that too. The HP minis might be worth a look also. From Lenovo, there is the T410. If you don't mind OS X the Macbook would be a decent option. From Dell, the Studio 14 looks pretty good.

    I think the HP DV3 will be here by the end of summer, that can be configured with BluRay......and I just read you don't want them since OD's are for losers o.0

    Check out some of these ;)

    12": Asus UL20
    13": HP dm3t/dm3z , Thinkpad Edge, MSI X340, Asus UL30
    14": Dell Studio 14, HP dv4t, Asus K42, VAIO CW / VAIO EA (youll be able to get the pink with the Vaio's :p :D)

    I'd definitely go for one of the 14" that arent ULV ;)

    The Sony would be nice...I'm trying to find battery life estimates on those.

    If you can go to 2000$ why not get the Z? :eek:

    It has an SSD drive o_O

    the sony EA EB EC battery and build are horrible. Id say Vaio Z series =] It is undoubtedly the BEST 13/14inch available.
