    Asus forwarded you to the engineers when you wrote to them? I don't quite understand what you mean by "that information gone" to them.

    Oh, sorry. Sometimes my word luggage can be unsatisfying.

    I wanted to say that support let engineers know that in some cases such as failure in flashing or sometimes when updating of BIOS done you can not turn on the backlight. They will make fix for these bug, i hope.

    American department of ASUS fixed it on another laptop model as we know. http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/513264-keyboard-light-fix-gary-key.html

    They also said that i can go to service, but i will not do that, because laptop is running OK at least and i know the only thing we need is a little bugfix.

    Oh! Okay, that sounds good then. Even if you brought it to them, there's no apparent hotfix for your side, so I think you're all the wiser to hold on to your laptop and play the waiting game. :)

    While waiting for the official solution i rolled back BIOS to 211, but it didn't work. The first attempt to roll finished with failure, after that wnen i tryed to turn laptop on, backlight was blinking. But now on stable 211 BIOS it is not again.

    So i do not understand how it works. If that is not BIOS, so what is?

    Waiting for official fix... But i do not believe they will do it. They will redirect me to service probably.

    So, there is no any reaction from ASUS support now. I guess they will do nothing with this problem in future, cause it's not common.
    My solution is to solve it by myself. I need full BIOS dump from N56VZ unit which is working fine. Can anybody with N56VZ with keyboard make me this dump? The easy way to do this is to make bootable flash drive with FPT, boot it and type command "fpt -d backup.rom -BIOS"

    Hehehey, hello people.
    I guess that finally i found the way to fix our backlight on N56VZ and some other asus laptop models:)

    So if your laptop was bricked (on the BIOS level) and if you see after reflashing it in service that there is no keyboard backlight on it you can use bootable flash drive with DOS and the BT utility from the attachement.

    Do like that:

    1) Unzip bt.exe on bootable USB drive with DOS (google how to make it if it's needed);
    2) Boot it;
    3) Type in the command line:
    Bt –c cnfg /w dd 7c
    Then there will be a message about some kind of writing error, its OK. Press ctrl+alt+delete;
    4) Boot your main OS.
    5) Enjoy ;)

    For your sure there are original sources (achtung, russian language!): Problem No 6 here and one more post of 1l1a menber here.
    And also, it worked for my pour N56VZ.

    Regards,
    Nick

    I have a similar problem ... I sent my laptop to service because it was bricked by a failed BIOS update. It came back and there is no keyboard light. They replaced the motherboard.

    I could take it back, but it took a month last time!

    Should I try this fix? Did anyone else have success with it?

    I'm a very impatient man. I tried this anyway with my fingers crossed, and it worked!

    Glad to have my backlight back :)

    Thanks for the info!
