You never know what you may get when you buy a used clean laptop from a seller on craigslist. I had bought from him in the past for a power cord. This time he was selling this cf-30. It worked much better then my old cf-29. I did not know it as the time, the OS it came with was windows 10 but was a licence from a HP. Its been years since buying Windows OS, but does Microsoft still sell its OEM disk as holographic disk or do they sell the factory sold software on thumb drives?

Anyway, I may need to buy a new version of Windows 7. What about Windows 8? Once I buy the OS, and install all the appropriate applications, then I will image it to a new hard drive in the event the old OS Dies.

Who is selling windows 7 or 8 for the Cf-29? I am in Vancouver so it can be shipped.

Well it seems he used a Windows 7 from a HP so he could get the free upgrade. It's not the first time I have heard of it and it won't be the last :). You want a W7 disk for a CF-29 or did you mean for your new 30? What's the full model number of the 30?

Never used it but they say W8.1 is better but on a 30 the drivers will take some work since Panasonic has none for the 30.

An HP disk will work fine as long as you install the proper drivers after Windows is done installing. I use a Dell disk when I don't have a factory Panasonic recovery disk.
It will not auto activate when you use another brand install disk. You must manually enter the serial number from a valid COA.

Tread lightly guys. We are getting close to a forbidden subject on this forum.

    yeppers ... 'nuff said .

    on W8.1 ...
in my opinion , forget it ... stick with W7 .
W10 is in the same category .
with both , i cannot see any advantages over W7 , unless you like a non-productive gui/desktop environment designed by the scramble wound rejects from fisher/price .

I have read posting on this site for a very long time and could always find my answers with out asking any questions lol
Then any time that I could answer a question for someone I am always to late
    But
    I have a stupid questions
1 Why would you need a Panasonic Windows disk when any works? Besides it saying Dell or HP lol

    2 do they make a Windows 7 Pro disk for a cf-30 MK1 or MK2 ? I could never find one

3 I always pop a new caddy in my cf-30 MK3 do a install then take it out and pop it in the 1 or 2 then upgrade bios and drivers for 1 and drivers for 2 even though there are no conflicts on the 2 is there a better way?

Sorry for going on and on lol

"Why would you need a Panasonic Windows disk when any basically works?"
    CFA

a big advantage is the in the *driver* and *other specific software* areas .
some of this software has to be written to run on a panasonic machine .
there are a couple of other items as well .

to reiterate ... almost dancin' on a razor blade here .
