    I'm confused?
Can a P71 GPU be upgraded?

Well, yes and no. Yes, it can be upgraded, but apparently only with those cards Lenovo whitelists which in practice are those Lenovo OEM cards that are available for the P71 (i.e. P3000M, P4000M or P5000M). So, you can't upgrade to a Geforce card or to a newer Quadro series card (e.g. if the future releases are of compatible design) or even to a compatible Quadro card from another OEM (though if this whitelisting is based on the vendor and hardware ID's in vBIOS only, these MIGHT become hackable; might because the Pascal vBIOS is encrypted and still isn't cracked I think).

On the other hand, it has a TB3 port (or two of them), so using an external GPU for upgrade should be possible.

Unfortunate; I'd really like to be able to put an AMD card from the same generation (W7170M) into a P70.
