Along with my new notebook came MSN messenger. I was not previously using this program, but would kind of like to now. I am having a few problems however.

I got messenger to stop starting at the system startup, however, it still opens up with Outlook Express. I already went into the Outlook options menu and unchecked the option to run messenger with it. That did not work. Any ideas?

Also, I would like it to display my status as (appear offline) when I do sign in. Sometimes I like to see which of my friends are online, but do now want them to know that I am online. Help?

Also, it does not ask for my password. That means that anyone can use my account. What can I do about this?

If I downloaded Trilian (which is a program that combines MSN, Yahoo, AIM, etc. all into one) and set it up for MSN messenger, would I be about to uninstall MSN completely, and get rid of the previosly mentioned problems? I would then only be using Trilian.

I have search Google for help, but have not found much.
I am sure that other people are having these same questions...
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

I've been using MSN Messenger for a long time. Notice though that most computers install with Windows Messenger, which is different and completely annoying. You can remove Windows Messenger with this procedure:

    1. Click on the Start button and select Run.
    2. Type: RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%INFmsmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

In the text box and click OK. You will see a progress bar appear shortly as it deletes its files and it will then ask you to reboot. After the reboot the program will be gone.

To protect from someone using your account, set up a password. That's the best thing since MSN Passport is so integrated with XP, as you've found.

    Thanks Brian.

I want to be able to use MSN Messenger, but want more control over it.

What do you think about the Trilian idea I spoke of before?

I just cleared the .Net password that it remembered, so now when messenger opens up, I have to enter in the information to connect.

I would still like to be able to log on to msn messenger and appear offline right away.

There is probably a mod for that...you'll just have to dig I suppose.

I've found what you're looking for. It's a program called JNRZLOADER. Just go to http://mess.be and it's on the left side of the screen near the top in the "Important Anouncemess.be" box.
It will log you on making you appear offline.

Here's the link to download directly:

    It says its version 6.xxxxx
Does that me the program is that version or the it is meant for MSN messenger 6.xxxxx?
I have version 4.7 and heard that if I upgrade to the new 6.xxxxx version that the 4.7 version still stays on the computer, therefore having two copies of the same program. I do not want that.

Do I need to upgrade my 4.7 version for this plugin to work?
    Has anyone used this plugin?

    Thanks again.
