MSI GX740 with 5870 1gb ddr5

    Here is my 5870 at 815MHz core in Furmark extreme burning mode. No undervolting or anything, just modded bottom cover, no heatpads on RAM chips, Zalman STG-2 instead (and ICD7 on GPU core). HA!

    I also need a replacement backcover. Where can i buy such a thing? With shipping to germany? :eek:

    Awesome temps marecki. Any pics of the modded cover? No heatpads on ram chips? Did you notice that on your model the heatsink didn't make good contact with the gpu die due to the thick thermal pads. Same issue here with the GX640, but I solved it with a copper shim.

    Can you give me the link please? I downloaded 10.5 from ATI, but it said my gpu is not supported...

    EDIT: Nevermind I found it :)

    MSI should thank him. He's adding life to his GPU. I can't understand the factory vents for the GPU. They are nowhere near the heatsink itself. !

    So true! Thinking of doing the same to cool this thing down a little.
    But my gpu is maxing out @ 83c 15min furmark @ 700MHz core 0.95v...

    Eh thats why you buy a spare one. If you ever need to RMA you sent it back with the unmodified back plate.
