You are right, as Prema and others said, unfortunately the GPU is a BGA, I'm so sad to know that, but I hope that this is just a prototype and maybe they will fix this design along with the keyboard in the final version.

Can't be BGA on the GPU. Maybe the heatsink is covering up the mxm slot.

This might actually be an NVidia thing. I got the impression that with the whole MSI upgrade thing that they got a little blindsided by a change in NVidia

But where are you gonna upgrade that 9900k to? The next gen Ice Lake 10nm won't be compatible.

Lol Kitten. But seriously I doubt anyone would get a 9900k -> KF since the KF is the same thing without a integrated graphics. The KS isn't really worth it if you have a 9900k. It's like going from a 8700k to a 8086k.

Yet, Intel is wrapping them up in pretty boxes and selling them to happy recipients, one would assume, given all the hoopla Intel makes about the KF / KS sku's.

You could buy the lowest specs CPU from the vendor and replace it with the highest specs silicon lottery binned CPU for example.

But I haven't seen anyone sell these things with a base i3 9300 where you can upgrade to any processor you want. They all either come with a 9700k or a 9900k from retail and resellers.
