    Hi!

I wanted to hear your guys' opinions on the GT75 vs the AW 17.

I'm thinking about getting the GT75 with the GTX 1070 and 8850h or the AW 17 with the GTX 1070 and 8750h.

I will be ordering from HIDevolution with their repaste service and thermal pads.

My two biggest concerns are stable temperatures and acceptable fan noise.

I heard that the speakers on the MSI are the best, but the AW still great.

Are the speakers/fans on both of these machines good enough so that gaming out loud is possible without noise being a nuisance?

I really enjoy gaming out loud, I would prefer not to use headphones.

Also, from my research, the MSI should run quite cooler than the AW.

Thanks for your time and I await your response!

    - Stephan

The MSI Gt75 have better sound, better cooling...i will only go for 17 R5 because the quality of case….AW is a good laptop but need too much tweaks like LM, other termal pads or you will have temperatures on 90ºC...

And buy the MSI GT75 with GTX1080 and 88750H, at least in my country the 8RF(8850H+GTX1070) and the 8RG(8750H+GTX1080) have the same price…"F" for graphics with GTX1070 and "G" for graphics with GTX1080.

I'd lean towards MSI in that comparison, their GT series has been very solid lately.

Get MSI, the speakers are way better than others.

I would agree, get the MSI. Their fans tend to be more quiet than other brands, and they use amazing speakers.

I owned an alienware before more than 5 years ago, and believe me back then they have the best build quality and gaming temps etc, no.1 imo, but alienware nowadays have gone downhill, i cant even imagine the heat issues of the 17 r4 versions (maybe the r5 also?) And repasting requires some work, msi on the other hand, catches up fast, fan noise is nothing, be it loud but spinning sounds should be normal, msi wins for me, pulled the trigger one week ago and waiting to be received.

The MSI should have decent temps right OOB while the alienware, you are kinda playing the lottery with. Alienware seems to overheat quite a bit. May be bias since I'm going to get a GT73VR.

Alienware M18xR2 owner here, the MSI GT75 Titan is absolutely the better laptop. The cooling is INSANE. Coming from the M18xR2, this thing basically has two 120W 3 pipe heat sinks solely dedicated to the GPU and a separate one dedicated to the CPU. Mechanical keyboard vs membrane. Fantastic looking aesthetics. 120 Hz G-Sync display that get's high remarks.

GT75 all the way. If I can afford it, I hope to get their 1180 equipped successor sometime in the next 3 years just to have on hand in case I need the mobility. But I'm in no rush, having moved to desktop a few years ago.

I absolutely love my laptop. The sheer amount of copper they use on the GT75 was better than any other cooling solution I saw which is why I went with it. I mostly game on it and I've not seen the GPU go past 78C even while pushing an ultra wide 2K monitor at 120Hz. (Predator X34p) The excellent cooling hardware combined with the HIDevolution re-paste and case mod means the fans don't have to work as hard to dissipate heat hence a quieter machine.
