    Hello,

I have read so many conflicting accounts I have just decided to post my own thread about this subject. I am interested in buying the following MSI GT73VR TITAN PRO-1005 17.3 laptop (amazon link below).

Is there anyway to confirm with no doubt that it has GSync? The reviews and Q/A on the page are all self-contradictory as well as all the forums I have read pertaining to this.

Please refrain from bringing up any topic not pertaining to whether or not this has gsync or how to confirm if it does.

    Thank you.

According to the specs we get from MSi it does not have Gsync listed. I have heard rumors about customers being able to get Gsync to work through the Nvidia control panel. But I haven't been able to replicate this myself,on this exact system.

I can confirm this model would not have G-sync. According to MSI, Only models below have G-Sync, and some older ones:

    GT75VR TITAN PRO 4K-082

    GT75VR TITAN PRO-215

    GT73VR TITAN PRO-872

    GT73VR TITAN PRO-865

    GT73VR TITAN PRO-866

    GT73VR TITAN 4K-867

If this model has the Chimei (CMO) 120hz screen that is IDENTICAL to the 120hz 5ms screen in the other models, it is GUARANTEED to have Gsync!
It is IMPOSSIBLE for a model with the exact same 120hz screen to *NOT* have gsync.

MSI uses the EXACT SAME System Bios for *ALL* Of their GT73VR models. There is no difference. The HM175 chipset versions use a different EC firmware, because SLI is not supported, so there is a 330W power draw cap, that the CM238 versions do not have on their EC.

Gsync is controlled by something called "DRM". Which is a hardware cookie that is given by Ngreedia to MSI, after they pay the tax to the green goblin, and the panel is validated.
This cookie can actually be seen if you do enough work with UEFITool and going through random Bios headers. Since each and every GT73VR uses the exact same system Bios, if the monitor panel used has been used for Gsync on ANY other GT73 model, whether or not it is listed by MSI as supported, will ALWAYS work with Gsync.

There ARE GTX 1070 video cards that do NOT have a gsync bios enabled in them. But these video cards were only used on the GT83VR. I have never seen a GTX 1080 video bios on a GT73VR NOT support Gsync, and there have never been two vbios versions of a GTX 1080 on a GT73VR, a gsync on and gsync off vbios. And it would not make any sense for there two be two different hardware ID revisions of the GTX 1080 on this base model.

Yes it does have G-SYNC despite MSI claiming that it doesn’t just like they did on my previous GT73VR Titan Pro-425
