ohh I never knew that, I always thought CM238 Chipset = must have ESS.

    Thanks for the info man.

To me personally, I just plug in basic headphones when I want to listen to something myself and I'm not an audiophile to care about ESS. The most important thing is the performance of the CM238 chipset so unless you're an audiophile, that laptop is still a very nice one.

Sorry, Ken just send me an email saying that ESS Sabre DO come with Pro-236 model, which has CM238 Chipset.
Sorry about the confusion, and your original thought was right.

@fapiha66 I just encountered this same model (Pro-236) while looking at the 427 and Pro-866 models and didn't know what the difference was.
To confirm: Pro-236 has CM238 chipset and ESS Sabre, correct?

Pro-236 seems to be the best deal of the three as it has GTX 1080 over 427's GTX 1070, and basically everything the Pro-866 has for a better price (well, different chipsets, but Pro-236 has CM238).

Did you end up going with this one? Still researching? I need to check the links Phoenix provided re: thermal compounds as I had the same question.
Does the CPU need to be delidded in this one, do you know?

Correct. Ken at GenTech confirmed that Pro-236 model has CM238 and ESS Sabre features, and supports dual PCIe SSD.

For CPU, correct me if I am wrong @Phoenix, it does NOT need delidding. As a matter of fact, the MSI comes with a BGA CPU, which do not has the integrated heat spreader (IHS). Namely, the cpu's dice contact directly with the headsink.

    I am still hesitating...

I belive ESS sabre have nothing to do with the chipset, both are diffrent things. The ess sabre is a audiodrive chip, which has to be installed on the Motherboard if the manufactures want.(it aint compulsary).
While somme things like msi nahimic, is a bios-software active communicated "software".
