Hi guys.. I have been searching in the forum but I could not find info.

I have just bought a Gs63vr and I would like to have more power to run games in a 1440p @144hz monitor with Gsync.
Has someone been able to test a Razer Core external Gpu through thunderbolt?

My idea is to buy soon the razer core + gtx 1080.

I know some dell XPS have been tested and are working properly with the razer core... Now I read on this review that the gs73vr should be working but don't know how stable will be..

Any help or info will be great! Thanks.

Since the Gs63vr only has a 1060 , it may actually be a performance increase if you are using a 1080 in the Razer Core. You will not get it's full performance, though. There is still a bottleneck with Thunderbolt 3 for GPUs. The is actually a pretty easy way to gauge an EGPU's performance via Thunderbolt 3.

An EGPU with Thunderbolt 3 will perform about the same as the tier BELOW it. So a 1080 will perform more like a 1070, a 1070 will perform more like a 1060..., ect.

In terms of stability, you will be fine.

Thanks for the answer... And yes I read that you lost between 10% to 15% of performance through an external monitor.. And even more if you want to use the laptop screen since the data has to go back...

I liked this technology but still is in progress... And kind of prohibited... Hoping that soon MSI will launch something similar to match with slim products listed the GS series.... And not to be out of date in couple of years.

I haven't heard anything yet, so probably not in the next couple of months at least. The CES one looked sort of like it was there to see how much interest there was.

Well there maybe test of some sort by then confirming that this would actually work, but as it stands it's all speculation at this point and I'm leaning toward this not working very well or at all.
