    Whatsapp folks,

    apologize if there is similair thread. I am considering to buy a laptop again, previously I owned MSI GT73VR 7RE. I wasnt really happy with this laptop due to the temperatures mostly on CPU.
    I am wondering if any of you guys have a some experience with this model, what are the temps with this 15.6" models, i would go for 17 but i want something more comfortable so 15.6 would be best. what other alternatives are there, I was also wondering to build up with pcspecialist, i would also go for 17 inch but i want something stsble and with similair specs. Any idess, suggestions please?

    Thanks!!!
    @Falkentyne

    Don't think I've seen one of these go too much over 90C even under heavy load, though I think I've only really seen numbers from the 9750H version, so couldn't speak for the 9880H version.

    Well I personally think the cooling on the GT73VR was good for 4/8 core/thread CPUs, so if you weren't happy about that then I don't think you'll be happy as you go smaller in size. Larger desktop replacements will have better cooling but going down you'll have to be comfortable with seeing 70-90C as the move to 8th gen and 9th gen you'll see more 6-8 core variants and at higher clocks. There is a good chance that you will need to replace stock paste that shaves off 5-10C, or going liquid metal shaving off additional 5-10C above that. Using programs such as throttlestop to lower core boost and undervolting to reach better temps. Maybe 10th gen with the GE66 will provide better cooling for you. I know you probably wont see it till close to summer time but I would wait. Supposedly the new ones will have better cooling than previous. The one last year was just a slight improvement from the year before so all in all its up to how much you want to replace your current laptop.

    Just got my GE65 with 9750H and 2070. Using grizzly paste i was hitting 95-100°C on the regular, freaked me out as I've never had a laptop run that hot. I applied Grizzly Liquid Metal Conductonaut and I am impressed. I saw a 26-30°C drop in temps for the CPU under load. I used liquid electrical tape before applying. Totally loving this laptop. Came from the GS63VR.

    sorry for dp, but i also heard liquid conductonaut is not good for aluminium it degrades it overtime... is that true?

    Don't think the spreaders themselves are made of AL, bigger problem is laptop mounting pressure can cause issues if you don't prep it properly.

    Those gaming laptops will put out lots of heat. Best to purchase a laptop cooler and your gaming laptop won't get too hot. I had a HP Slimline thin laptop and had to get a laptop cooler for basic computer work.

    1. Reduce graphics quality settings would help with heat
    2. Add a laptop cooler to help with airflow to cool off the system more efficiently

    I was also considering to get vortex IX from pcs its actually clevo PB50RF i only heard a good things about this machine, temps wise also. 15 screen g sync rtx 2070 + i9750h with 16gb 2666 and 500 gb evo m.2 for 1600£ i think its very good price. but as i said ive read a lot review and people sayin temps werent actually that bad. my previous gt73vr was running over 95 with 5-8° difference in cores even after repasting.. tought i slightly undervolt and oc on qll cores 4ghz maybe i just had a bad luck with silicon lottery comparing to other. Does anyone know guys when 10th gen is out for gaming/ editing laptops? if its worth to wait, thanks!!
