LOL, this was not simply plug and play. The chassis was modified and so was the MXM connector so the card would fit in nicely. The rest was as simple as having a 120Hz monitor and windows installed a driver for me automatically which worked fine.

Parts are getting rare now. It was getting difficult in 2015 to source those parts when I had the AW17.

Should fit ok. I believe the difference in part number is due to the card manufacturer, whether it is AMD or nvidia. Both should work as the only difference is the orientation of the black tape on the copper contact area, which seems to be removed on that heatsink anyway.

    So no worries.

I highly recommend you use this 5 pipe heatsink for the 1070N, because the 3 pipe is only rated for 100w dissipation and the 1070N will output more.

i checked it but i doubt i will buy gtx 1070 now as i only have a 60hz display...upgrading the display is a hassle from india...so gonna fit gtx 980m....anyways oc it can match gtx 1060 and able to play current games in FHD...later onwards i will build ryzen beast with vega graphics desktop when the need arises

    Ah ok.

Still good idea to buy the 5 pipe though, the GTX980M OC will output more than 100w.

No, the hard mod is needed this thread says it all, so the MSI 1070N is not PnP needs mods from both chassis and HS, The only PnP is Quadro P5000, while the 1070 Zotac needs only mods on HS, due to the alternating power chokes and PCB design - Need 120Hz on Haswell AW17, I guess only Woodz ran it on AW17+60Hz LVDS and It had some issues, Apart from that all the Pascal mods on Alienwares on NBR were done on 120Hz Haswell machines, While the Quadro pulled it off on M17x R4, off Optimus + 60Hz due to the Ivy Bridge PCH.

A 1060 should fit without modding.
