    Hello All,

    I have been scouring the forums and can't find a resolution to this.

    I have a P870DM-G, I have just changed out the 980m to an MSI GT72VR (T) 1BE1 1070 card.

    I have flashed BIOS 86.04.56.00.3A from the MSI website (as said ina forum post on here) and this is showing up in GPU-Z. It is also showing Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. I have tried using NVIDIA installer with drivers 375.70 and 456.38. Both of the installers show the hardware isn't compatible. I am getting no errors in the device manager drivers page.

    Any help to get this running would be very much appreciated.

    TheLuddite!

    I've now tried 86.04.31.00.0D and no joy.

    Modified the .inf files to force the NVIDIA driver to install and still no luck!

    Giving up for today I think.

    Are you absolutely sure you modded the .inf file properly?

    Did you toggle secure boot off before installing?

    Hi Electrsoft,

    I followed this guide https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/nvidia-inf-driver-modding-guide.377158/ and added in to the display inf file. I am actually getting the nvidia installer past the compatibility checker and I'm now at the stage where I am installing the driver but it fails.

    The lines I added were:
    [NVIDIA_Devices.NTamd64.10.0...17098]

    Added this
    %NVIDIA_DEV.1BE1% = win10adesktop, PCI\VEN 10DE&DEV_1BE1

    &

    [Strings]
    DiskID1 = "NVIDIA Windows 10 (64 bit) Driver Library Installation Disk 1"
    FLG_ADDREG_KEYONLY = 0x00000010

    Added this "NVIDIA_DEV.1BE1 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070"

    Edit: Secure boot is disabled

    Are you installing with driver signing disabled through the advanced restart menu?

    I have been, yes. I've just woke up this morning to give it another go. I get to about 75% and then the failure comes up, however tech GPU then goes from basic drivers to showing that there is a 1070 installed. So close! I just can't get past this final part.

    You were 100% right on the .inf files!

    I found another guide here (https://null-src.com/posts/nvidia-notebook-driver-inf-mod/post.php) which explained that I needed to mod the Clevo .inf file too. That part wasn't in the forum post I linked earlier or I missed it!

    Anyway, It's all installed. just need to check the fans are working correctly etc and then on to some gaming.

    Thank you for that!

    ‘I’m glad it worked out!

    That link was one I used when figuring out a quicker way to mod .inf files for a quicker approach to setup systems with new GPUs.

    Let us know how it runs with temps and benchmarks.
