Those are first benchmarks which claim that Turion overperforms PM.
It's interesting. The fact that Turion slightly overperforms PM in arithmetic benchamrks is no news to me, though. Conecerning the battery life,
I wonder how 35 Watt Turion ML can be on par with 25 Watt PM.

The issue is if the benchmarks used actually are testing applications where the advantage of 2 time bigger L2 cache of PM comes into play. I don't know that.

Thanks for the interesting link. It's always good to know that the world around may be different than one thought it is. :(

you're telling me. I was a hardcore Intel PM fan and was pretty surprised by this offering. Combined with reviews of some of the latest Turion notebooks, it doesn't seem too different from an eqiuvelent PM model :decision:

    but heat is another issue

    I am also hesitating between a S260 (PM 730) and a S270 (MT30), both with 60GB 5400rpm, 768 DDR333, white case with 8 cells battery.

I worry about the battery life: I would like to be able to work up to 5h with it.
On other forums, some users says they reach 4:45 with divx playing on a S260 with max brightness, others only 3h with a S270 (MT30) on same conditions.
On the other hand, the laptologic review says that the ML is consuming less than the PM in some cases...

Hello I am new here. I was wondering if anyone has the actuall weight of the s260 and the s270. I have seen these two with different lb's on different pages so if anyone has one and can wiegh it or have actuall acurate weight, that would be great. Also does the pearl white look actually white like the whitebooks or is it more silver? thanks I'm looking into configuring one of these. I really like the MSI 1012 but it doesnt come in white, am I right?

Fully configured weight with the 8 cell battery is right about 4.5lbs.

According to other forums, the average 8 cells battery lifetime is arround 3:30 on the S270 and 4:30 on the S260.
Both models (1012 = 260 and (1013 = 270) are sold in black or white

Anyone knows the price differences of an S260 and S270? I found this MS1012 at $1149 Canadian:

MSI MS-1012 Whitebook Solution Intel 915GM "Intel Celeron 1.4 60GB HDD 512MB 12.1" Wide XGA 16:10 TFT DVD Writer Build In 802.11 b/g

Is it a good deal? How much will it be the MS-1013 with the same setup?

Just for record, there is a review of S270 in German:
    http://www.computerpartner.de/tests/neu/200445/index.html

Page 2 contains results of some benchmarks and measurements
(eg battery life 1:38H and display brightness 207 cd/m²).

If someone is interested to translate it electronically please post it here to help others.

Well, less than 2 hours of battery is definitely a deal breaker.

If you still remember which forum stated that 1012 can achieve that 4:30 battery life, we will be very pleased if you can post a link, thanks.
